Roel Paulissen (Cannondale) will race during the 2009 European championships mountainbike cross country in Zoetermeer (the Netherlands) on July 12th 2009 and hopes he can help out fellow Belgian racer Sven Nys (Landbouwkrediet-Colnago).
Past week, Paulissen was suffering some problems with his longs and missed out on some crucial training sessions. Besides that, the European champs are not highlighted on his list while the Belgian champion has training on climbing...
The track in Zoetermeeris flat and a tactical race might be a good option. In the line-up, Roel Paulissen will be starting in front of Sven Nys and hopes to launch him in the race.

But the participation of Paulissen will not be unremarkable since he will be testing a new Cannondale bike. A hardtail bike of only 7,4 kg designed for not that rough tracks and was developed together with Paulissen.
“Belgium is only ranked 14th in the world ranking. However I never rode in Zoetermeer, I hope that we can make a tactical race. If not, wa may forget any podium position already. The new bike of 7,4 kg which Cannondale designed together with me, will be the lightest en most stiff bike out there during this European champs.”, says Roel Paulissen.
