British Cycling and its partners will be hosting the opening of the 2010 Dalby World Cup, taking place in the Pickering town centre, on Friday, April 23rd. An evening of racing and free entertainment is expected in the heart of North Yorkshire.
The evening will start with the Pro Sprint Eliminator, a race than combines a format from the four cross racing with the all round skills of XCO, settled in an urban area, bringing the MTB sporting closer than ever to the general public.
The riders, in the opening time trial round have to be among the quickest riders, 32men or 16women, in order to make it into the eliminator phase. Next, they will be divided into groups of four, having to finish in the top 2 in each subsequent round so as to qualify for the final round. A big cash prize awaits the final overall winner.

Some of the Yorkshire names will also be competing in a special celebrity race taking place before the final round of the Pro Sprint Eliminator.
The terrain of challenging obstacles and the set of steep steps will test the limits of the participants.
What follows afterwards is the opening ceremony of the 2010 Dalby UCI MTB XCO World Cup, being followed by an evening of celebrating activities such as Morris dancers and face-painting for children.
The 2009 Downhill MTB World Champion Steve Peat says: “I can wait for the Dalby weekend. It is a great sight to see the best XCO guys competing and Pro Sprint Eliminator is a good warm up for what follows next.”
The British Cycling is in close partnership with UK Sport, Welcome to Yorkshire, Yorkshire Forward and the Forestry Commission. In addition to these are a number of local partners such as Ryedale District Council and North Yorkshire County Council, to deliver the 2010 UCI Dalby Mountain Bike Cross-Country World Cup.
