First smile of the mountain bike season I recorded. Jose Antonio Hermida seemed as pleased to see me as I was, being there at the first European world cup in Offenburg. Hermida won the previous race in Johannesburg and proudly wore his white leaders jersey. The yellow color on his number plate means that the combined members of the Multivan-Merida team have the most uci points, an honor they kept throughout the season.
De eerste glimlach van het mountainbike seizoen die ik mocht fotograferen. José Antonio Hermida leek zo blij mij te zien als ik me voelde daar op die eerste Europese wereldbeker in Offenburg. Hermida won de vorige race in Johannesburg en showde trots zijn witte leiderstrui. Het geel op zijn nummerplaat betekend dat het Multivan-Merida team als eerste in de team ranglijst staat. Een eer die ze het hele seizoen hebben behouden.
