In the past, it was not even sure there would be a UCI trade team in Belgium, but this year the story is going the other way. Last year only Lingier-Versluys and team Saeco took the effort to become a trade team. In 2010 four more teams want to step up.
The procedure isn't simple involving lots of paperwork, so it's a good thing for the Belgian mountain bike scene that a lot of people want to go that extra mile.
On January 6th the MTB commission of the Belgium federation checked the files of the candidates and found them admissible. Now the teams have to change to second gear and get the paperwork ready for the UCI headquarters.
