Dutch 2004 Olympic mountainbiker, Bas Peters (Merida-Combee), has wun the fifth stage in the VAUDE TransSchwarzwald 2009. During the longest stage of this year's series (111,5 km) a final sprint was deciding about today's winner.
In that sprint, Peters defeated two Germans: Björn Papstein (Mountainracer) and Uwe Hardter (Rothaus-Cube). The top-3 in the overall ranking didn't interfere and arrived four minutes later than the winner.
Despite losing four minutes, Thomas Dietsch (Team Bulls) keeps wearing the yellow jersey and will start as leader in the individual ranking in the sixth stage as well.

In the duo category, the Vaude-Simplon duo Andi Strobel and Markus Kaufmann finally took a stage win. Also in this category, a final sprint determined today's winner where the leaders of the overall ranking, Hannes Genze and Andreas Kugler (Multivan-Merida), didn't sprint for the stage victory and secured their leader position.
