Hannes Genze

While Hannes Genze (Multivan-Merida) claims his third win in the 2009 Trans Germany, his team-mates Andreas Kugler and Jochen Käß ensure a whole Multivan-Merida day podium.

Despite the strong collective play of Multivan-Merida, Thomas Dietsch (Team Bulls) is still wearing the yellow leader's jersey, but his competitors are closing in.

In the overall ranking, Dietsch only has 1'05" ahead on Hannes Genze and 1'27" on Jochen Käß. Team Bulls however is still fighting back with Tim Böhme and Stefan Sahm who finished 11th and 12th.

Thomas Dietsch had a tough sixth stage and had to cope with two flat tires: "During the first one, I could switch my front wheel with Stefan Sahm. But when my rear tire started to lose air... I really was in trouble since my first attempt to fix it, failed."

"I didn't want to lose the yellow jersey because of flat tires and was still going full throttle although my rear tire was losing air. I had to be careful in the downhill, but at the same time I had to give all I got: not an ideal situation...", explains the 34-year-old French marathon champion.

With such small time differences, everything is still possible in the seventh and final stage of the 2009 Trans Germany: will Team Bulls hold their ground or will Multivan-Merida (with winning five out of six stages so far) take over the yellow jersey last minute?

In the women's competition it seems that Esther Süss (Wheeler-iXS) is aiming to win all stages. This stage, the British Topeak-Ergon racer Sally Bigham crossed the finishline 5'06" later than Süss.
