Hannes Genze

Hannes Genze (Multivan-Merida) has secured his second victory in the 2009 Trans Germany. In the final sprint he defeated leader in the overall ranking Thomas Dietsch (Team Bulls) and Dutch racer Ramses Bekkenk (Nissan) completed the podium.

Yellow jersey Thomas Dietsch is extending his lead in the overall ranking with more than one minute on his closest competitors.

With the victory of Genze, the Multivan-Merida team claims a fourth consecutive win while they are still chasing on the leading jersey which is currently owned by Team Bulls.

Jochen Käß (Multivan-Merida) was the racer who should have given Thomas Dietsch a hard time. The difference between these two racers only was 23 seconds. A flat tire in the final five kilometres is the reason why Käß is 1'34" away from the yellow jersey.

In this stage competition, the team play is more displayed as during single race competitions, showing an ultimate fight between the two marathon teams Team Bulls and Multivan-Merida over the yellow jersey. Thomas Dietsch states: "I have to thank the whole team. They all work so hard and doing a fantastic job!"

The team's party of Team Bulls is darkened by the drop-out of Karl Platt, who had to quit the race at 82 km due to a dislocated shoulder. Other remarkable quitter this day was Austrian racer Alban Lakata (Topeak-Ergon) who lost all chances for the overall victory due to flat tires. Lakata will be focussing on the national championship.

In the women's competition, Swiss racer Esther Süss (Wheeler-iXS) cannot be stopped. While British Topeak-Ergon racer Sally Bigham claims the second position once more...
